They delivered the project on time (actually a week early) and on budget. All the trades they used were top quality, their communication was brilliant if they promised something they delivered it and they weren’t scared to discuss our designs if they thought there was a better alternative!

They converted what we thought was a small unuseable space into a roomy, light double bedroom and bathroom loft conversion which has transformed our house and looks as though it’s always been there. They took care of the whole process from design through planning to completion. Ash Island recently converted our loft in to a master bedroom with en-suite shower room. They were professional yet friendly throughout, costs were transparent and extremely reasonable, and the team were highly efficient and quick to offer solutions to any issues which arose. The whole process was very easy from start to finish.
Matt and Lloyd came to see us and we discussed our requirements and they made some very good suggestions in terms of layout of the stairs and rooms. They actually came up with a brilliant idea to provide us with a greater ceiling height which is actually what made them our preferred contractors.
The costing and the planning application was also very quick and smooth.
The staff were all amazing, very kind, tidy and considerate. They worked really hard and they were happy to accommodate various changes as we got on.
Communication was easy and effective. Matt and the office staff were very efficient in responding to all queries and letting us know what was happening when. Lloyd was frequently on site keeping the team under close supervision. We had a few snagging items that were sorted promptly.
All in all we are very pleased with the result and we enjoyed working with Ash Island and we are happy to recommend them to anyone!
I can’t thank Ash Island enough for not just building a superb home but for totally transforming my family life! My children now want to spend time in their new bedrooms so I can get peace and quiet! The quality of work and the whole team from the builders to Matt and Lloyd were amazing, will definitely be using Ash Island next year for new kitchen and bathroom, thanks once again for everything.
The first contact we had with Ash Island lofts was a positive one, I spoke to Matt initially and then to Lloyd and then they agreed to come out of the house to have a look to see the suitability and possibility and the options for converting our loft of our modern style four bedroom detached property into a further bedroom.
Lloyd arrived on time as promised and promptly then started to discuss what could and couldn’t be done after he had listened very carefully to our requirements. He then suggested the various options available for the positioning of the staircase, and talked about the options for the layout of the actual Loft room itself.We agreed on the layout, and then they sent the drawing man to come and measure up to create some technical drawings.
Following this drawings were made within a few weeks and we discussed at length any particular changes or possibilities that arisen from these drawings.
Matt then correctly advised us to seek buildings consent from the council and offered to do this on our behalf.
This eventually came and start date was agreed in the spring of 2014.
The team turned up on time and within the first morning the steel beams arrived with the crane! I remember thinking to myself these guys are efficient!
The building process commenced swiftly and we were kept informed at all times of any particular issues as they arose. Anthony was the main man on the job and he was very thorough very proficient and very communicative he also likes rich tea biscuits with his brew so we stocked up!
Throughout the process if there was ever a problem I just picked up the phone I spoke to Lloyd or Matt and they sorted it out “don’t worry I will sort it ” words you need to hear when you’re a customer ,Ant then did sort any problems out and we are more than pleased with the end result as you can see from the pictures we now have a huge luxurious loft bedroom with ensuite in which we are very happy.
I have no hesitation at all in thoroughly recommend Ash Island these guys really know what they doing, I used to be a Carpenter myself so I know a good tradesmen when I see one. Lloyd is a very good tradesmen and Matt is superb with the customers with a great can-do attitude and together these guys are really the guys you want for your loft conversion, someone you can trust, someone who will do a thorough professional good job.

When we were recommended Ash Island by a neighbour we were a little sceptical that they could live up to such high praise! From our first meeting, however, with Matt and Lloyd we were impressed by their professionalism and enthusiasm . When our initial plans for a loft conversion were rejected by the local planning office they immediately came up with an alternative solution which was then passed. The whole team who worked on our project were efficient, friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were very diligent and trustworthy. We have ended up with a large loft extension giving us another bedroom, large living area and very large bathroom!

My wife and I had retired and we decided to maximise the space in our two and a half bedroom house – the most obvious solution was a loft conversion.
We contacted Ash Island Lofts by telephone and from that first contact we were impressed with their professionalism via the telephone and an appointment was made to visit our property. This was to be our first meeting with Matt & Lloyd who again showed their professional attitude towards our requirements, they pointed out and explained any possible obstacles in our house and then showed us their ideas as to what they would do to satisfy our requirements, they raised many pointers that we didn’t know about or had not even considered. They informed us of a price for the completed works and they offered us a “no deposit” to start the works and a halfway stage payment when the dormer window and staircase were fitted, the second and final payment to be paid on completion. The only “up front” payment was a small payment for architect’s drawings for the local council and this payment was credited back on the final invoice.
This company oozes confidence from the pre sales first meeting, during the actual works and after completion, which in turn made us feel both comfortable and confident ourselves.
The finished works are witness to everything said previously, they are amazing and look even better than we could ever have imagined, the works on site were overseen by Jeremy and his gang, who were very clean and polite as well as good fun, even when any unseen extras cropped up they were very obliging in fitting them in.
We have recently completed a large 2 room loft conversion with an en-suite bathroom which included building a hip gabled wall at one end. One of the main attractions for using Ash Island Lofts was the fact that they did not want any payment until the build was completed to your satisfaction. This alone gave us the confidence that they believed in their own quality of work and that they would be incentivised to work efficiently.
Every member of the team that worked on this project was fantastic. They were all polite, courteous, thoughtful, professional with an excellent work ethic. I felt extremely comfortable with them and they were good fun to have around. I would like to give a very a special mention to Mick who was my hero and my rock throughout the project.
Although there were minor issues along the way Lloyd and the team were extremely responsive and always worked to give us what we wanted. This level of responsiveness has also continued after completion and payment.
Everybody who has come to see it (there have been many!) have all commented on the quality of finish and have all been very impressed indeed. I have already passed on contact details to one friend.

Our conversion was carried out by Lloyd Taylor of Ash Island who did a great job. I got several quotes from different companies but Lloyd showed the best knowledge of the structural implications of our design and also understood what we wanted to achieve with the conversion. He was not the cheapest but we were confident he could actually provide what we required for the fixed fee with no hidden surprises. He also arrived when he said he would, answered his phone and got back to me with the quote very quickly.
He helped us find a way to convert our (only just tall enough) truss loft into a great master bedroom and en suite, with amazing views and glass Juliet balcony.
He helped us work out that we could change our stairs, so that they turned in the opposite direction. This enabled us to have the stairs flow all the way from the ground floor up through the house to the 1st and 2nd floor seamlessly. It also avoided taking the stairs to the master suite out of a bedroom or equally unacceptable arrangement. This also improved the layout and size of our hall as a bonus.
Once permitted development consent and party wall agreements were in place, work started very quickly. The workman were hard working, polite and considerate of the fact I was at home with small children in the house all day. Being on site was handy as I was able to talk to the builders daily and kept abreast of developments and any design decisions that might need to be made.
Due to a few unforeseen circumstances the build did not go exactly as planned but Lloyd and his crew were able to solve the problems. They undertook some extra work including replacing ceilings in three of the 1st floor bedrooms at no extra cost. Because of the additional work our project did run over the estimated time slightly but not by much.
I am very happy with the work they did and love our new master suite. I have no problem recommending them to anyone else thinking of having a loft conversion.

The work that Ash Island carried out has been absolutely brilliant. The job was a wrap around 2 storey side extension and Lloyd and Matt were extremely attentive throughout. Recently we decided to having our loft converted to a master bedroom and en suite, we decided to use Ash Island Lofts to do the work. Lloyd was very thorough on listening to our needs and adding space were we thought was not possible. Aron was our dedicated site foreman and was excellent at overseeing our needs and expectations with minimal fuss, his team was clean, polite and efficient and always had a smile upon there face even in the most harshest of conditions.
